About This Product 💥
Key feature
Add real metallic gold to your work with Camel Metallic Powder 171 Gold, a 5 g jar of dry metallic pigment. It is a powder, not a ready paint. Camel makes it to be mixed with Camel Medium 1 or Camel Medium 2, and once mixed it gives a matte finish with a shimmery gold effect on fabric, canvas, paper and other surfaces.

Ideal For
- Fabric painters adding gold borders and motifs to sarees and dupattas
- Hobby artists who want a true metallic gold rather than a yellow paint
- Card makers, festive decor and rangoli outline work
- Anyone who prefers to mix their own gold in small amounts
Perfect for
- Gold borders, paisleys and dots on sarees, kurtas and dupattas
- Gold accents on canvas paintings and Madhubani or Tanjore style work
- Greeting cards, envelopes and festive gift tags
- Highlighting clay, terracotta diyas and decor pieces
- Small batch gold paint mixed fresh for each project
Compatibility
Works with: Camel Medium 1 or Camel Medium 2 as the binder, which Camel names for this powder. Once mixed, use it on fabric, canvas, paper, terracotta and similar craft surfaces.
Pairs well with: a fine round brush for lines, a flat brush for fills, and a small palette or lid for mixing.
Not suitable for: use on its own. Dry powder will not stay on the surface without a medium or binder. It is also not a loose glitter and does not sparkle like one.
Before You Buy
- Medium not included. You need Camel Medium 1 or Medium 2, or another hobby medium, to turn the powder into paint.
- 5 g is a small jar, enough for details, borders and highlights rather than large areas.
- Camel states the mixed colour is permanent on fabric, so protect your clothes while working.
- Camel Medium 1 and 2 are not stocked at JustKraft at present; see the colour mediums collection for alternatives.
How to Use
- Put a small amount of powder on a palette or in a lid.
- Add Camel Medium 1 or Medium 2 a few drops at a time and mix until smooth. Add more medium for flow, more powder for a stronger gold.
- Paint with a brush. For fabric, place a card inside the garment first.
- Let it dry fully. Mix only what you need, since the mixed colour is not meant to be stored.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a paint I can use straight from the jar?
No. It is a dry metallic powder. Camel makes it to be mixed with Camel Medium 1 or Medium 2, and then it works like a metallic paint.
What do I mix it with?
Camel names Camel Medium 1 or Camel Medium 2 for this powder. Add medium a few drops at a time until the mix is smooth and brushable.
Can I use it on fabric?
Yes. Camel states the mixed colour is permanent on fabric, which is why it is a favourite for gold borders on sarees and dupattas.
How is this different from Camel metallic gold acrylic colour?
The acrylic colour is a ready liquid paint. This is a powder you mix yourself, so you control how strong the gold is and mix only what you need. The 5 g jar is also cheaper for small detail work.
How is it different from Fevicryl Gold 08 powder?
Both are 5 g metallic gold powders that need a medium. Camel names its own Medium 1 or 2 as the binder; Fevicryl's powder follows Fevicryl's pack instructions. Choose by the brand you already use.
