Make a clock tick on a standard craft board with this everyday quartz movement. It has an 18mm spindle for boards 3 to 7mm thick, takes hands with a 5.1mm hour hole and runs on one AA battery (not included). The spindle is the threaded shaft at the front, and on this size it passes through a common 3mm, 4mm or 6mm board and still leaves thread for the nut.

Compatibility

Works with: standard clock hands with a 5.1mm hour hole and a 3.3mm oblong minute hole, and boards 3 to 7mm thick.

Pairs well with: pre marked mdf clock bases, clock hands and a hanger hook.

Not suitable for: boards thinner than 3mm or thicker than 7mm, or minute hands longer than about 150mm.

How to Use

1. Measure your board, including any dial sheet or backing, and check it is between 3mm and 7mm thick.
2. Take the nut and washer off the shaft. If you use a movement hanger hook, slip it over the shaft now.
3. Push the shaft through the centre hole from the back, put the washer on at the front and tighten the nut until the movement sits firmly.
4. Point every hand at 12 as you fit it: press on the hour hand first, then the minute hand, then the second hand.
5. Put in one AA battery and set the time with the knob on the back.
