Graded Sketching Pencils | 8B to 2H | Pack of 12 | Metal Tin - Drawing Set

Twelve grades in a tin that keeps them safe. These graded sketching pencils run 8B, 7B, 6B, 5B, 4B, 3B, 2B, B, HB, F, H and 2H, one of each, as printed on the lid. Pencil grades work like a scale: H pencils are harder and draw lighter, B pencils are softer and draw darker, and HB sits in the middle, so one tin takes a drawing from faint layout to deep shadow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which grades are in this tin of 12?
8B, 7B, 6B, 5B, 4B, 3B, 2B, B, HB, F, H and 2H, one of each.

How is this different from the 4 pencil HB to 6B set?
This tin has 12 grades from 2H to 8B with fine steps between them. The 4 pencil set has HB, 2B, 4B and 6B only, the core grades for a small kit.

Is a graded tin good for beginners?
Yes. One of each grade is the easiest way to learn how hard and soft pencils shade differently.

Graphite pencils or charcoal, which should I pick?
Graphite draws grey with a slight sheen and erases cleanly; charcoal draws matte black and smudges. Pick graphite to learn control, charcoal for bold darks.
