JAGS oven bake polymer clay in white, a 250g block. White is the shade you get through fastest, because it lightens every other colour and it is the base for marble and terrazzo work.

Before You Buy

• Bake at 110 to 150 degrees C, which is what the pack states. Do not go past 200 degrees C. Overheating scorches the clay and gives off fumes.
• Use an oven thermometer rather than trusting the dial. Most home ovens run hotter or cooler than the setting says, and polymer clay is unforgiving at both ends: too cool and it stays brittle, too hot and it browns.
• Bake on a ceramic tile or baking paper, not straight on a tray you cook food on, and open a window while it bakes. We state no food grade rating for this clay, so keep it away from anything that touches food.
• This clay does not air dry. It stays soft indefinitely until it is baked, which is useful while you work but means an unbaked piece is never finished.
• Raw polymer clay can mark varnished furniture and some plastics. Work on a tile, a glass sheet or baking paper.
• Knead it until it is warm and pliable before shaping. Straight from a cool room it crumbles and cracks.

Will it harden if I just leave it out?
No. Polymer clay stays soft indefinitely until it is baked. That is the difference between this and air dry clay, and it is why you can leave a piece half finished and come back to it.

How is this different from air dry clay?
Air dry clay hardens by losing water, shrinks a little and stays fairly soft. Polymer clay only sets in an oven, does not shrink, and comes out hard enough to drill, sand and wear as jewellery.
