Compatibility

How to Use

1. Wash the new mould in warm soapy water and dry it fully before the first pour.
2. Sit the tray on a flat board so all four cavities stay level with each other.
3. Melt the wax, colour it a pale ivory or pistachio green off the heat, and let it cool slightly.
4. Fill each cavity in turn, pouring into the middle and letting the wax run out to the four points.
5. Tap the board so air trapped in the sharp corners rises out.
6. Let the whole tray set fully at room temperature so the edges stay crisp.
7. Flex the tray from underneath and pop each diamond out one at a time.
8. Add a wick if you want a burning candle, or leave them wickless as decorative mithai.

This is a flat four cavity tray that casts thin diamond slices, so you get four pieces per pour and a low profile that stacks in a box. The Gujiya mould is a deep two cavity block that casts a rounded, crimped half moon. Use this one for volume and tray displays.

Will epoxy resin work in this mould?

Yes. The flexible silicone takes epoxy resin, plaster and melt and pour soap base as well as candle wax, and the shallow flat cavities suit resin well. No food grade rating is stated for this mould, so keep it to craft casting.

How do I get sharp corners on the diamond?

Let the wax cool a little before pouring and tap the tray so no air sits in the points. Rushing the release while the wax is still soft is the other thing that rounds the corners off.
