Does the pestle come out of the bowl?
Yes. The pestle is a separate piece that sits inside the mortar, so you can pose it upright, resting on the rim or lying beside it.

How is this different from the miniature ceramic pots?
The okhali is unglazed sandy clay with two loose parts and a wide open bowl. The pots are glazed brown jars at 1.5 cm with a narrow mouth. Use the okhali for a kitchen in use.
