NARA Paper Mache | 100g | Air Dry Paper Pulp - Masks, Bowls & Models

Build a mask, a bowl or a character over a balloon instead of tearing up newspaper. NARA Paper Mache is 100g of white paper pulp that you mix with water, shape and leave to air dry hard, then paint. It needs no oven, which makes it an easy first sculpting material for kids.

Specifications

Perfect for

• Masks and balloon shapes
• Pen stands, bowls and small decor
• School projects and display models
• Characters to paint once dry
• Covering a card or wire base

Compatibility

Works with: water, balloons, card and wire bases, clay tools and acrylic paint once the piece is dry.

Pairs well with: acrylic colours, brushes and clay modelling tools.

Not suitable for: baking or oven curing, and pieces left outdoors, since it softens in damp air.

How to Use

1. Add water to the pulp a little at a time and knead until it feels like soft dough.
2. Press it over a balloon, a card base or a mould in an even layer.
3. Leave it to air dry fully. Thicker layers take longer.
4. Paint or varnish once it is dry right through.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much paper mache is in the pack?
100g of white air dry paper pulp in one pouch.

Does it need baking?
No. Mix it with water, shape it and let it air dry. An oven will crack and scorch it.

Can I paint it?
Yes. Once it is dry right through it takes acrylic paint well.

Should I pick paper mache or air dry clay?
Paper mache is light and suits big shapes built over a balloon or a base. Air dry clay is denser and holds fine detail better. Pick paper mache for masks and bowls, and air dry clay for small detailed figures.
