Build a quiet clock on a thin dial with this silent sweep quartz movement, where the second hand glides without a tick. It has a short 12mm spindle for boards up to 3mm thick, takes hands with a 5.1mm hour hole and runs on one AA battery (not included). The spindle is the shaft at the front; on a thin sheet a short one keeps the hands close to the face while still leaving thread for the nut.

Compatibility

How to Use

1. Measure your board, including any dial sheet or backing, and check it is 3mm thick or thinner.
2. Take the nut and washer off the shaft. If you use a movement hanger hook, slip it over the shaft now.
3. Push the shaft through the centre hole from the back, put the washer on at the front and tighten the nut until the movement sits firmly.
4. Point every hand at 12 as you fit it: press on the hour hand first, then the minute hand, then the second hand.
5. Put in one AA battery and set the time with the knob on the back.
