Make see-through candles that show off whatever you set inside them. This is 1kg of transparent gel wax, a soft, rubbery wax made from mineral oil and polymer resin, so a candle poured in a clear glass jar shows shells, beads and dried flowers right through it. It is a container wax only and does not stand on its own.

Compatibility

Works with: heat safe glass jars and metal urlis, wicks with a metal sustainer, candle colours and candle aroma oils kept within the stated fragrance load.

Pairs well with: decorative stones, sea shells, beads and dried flowers to set in the wax.

Not suitable for: pillar or free standing candles, plastic containers, or moulds that need the candle released, since gel wax stays soft.

How to Use

1. Cut the gel wax into small pieces and melt it in a pot, stirring gently.
2. Bring it to about 110°C so it turns fully liquid and the bubbles clear.
3. Fix a wick with a metal sustainer in a warmed glass jar and arrange your decorations.
4. Add colour and up to 3% fragrance, pour slowly down the side and let it set undisturbed.

Before You Buy

• This is the wax only. Wicks, jars, colours and fragrance are sold separately.
• Gel wax needs a higher heat than paraffin, so heat it with care and never leave it unattended.
• The maker states a flash point above 225°C; keep well below it.
