Make see-through candles that show off whatever you set inside them. This is 1kg of transparent gel wax, a soft, rubbery wax made from mineral oil and polymer resin, so a candle poured in a clear glass jar shows shells, beads, pebbles and dried flowers suspended right through it. It is a container wax only: it does not stand on its own like a pillar candle.

Compatibility

Works with: heat safe glass jars, metal urlis and candle cups, gel wax wicks with a metal sustainer, candle colours and candle aroma oils kept within the stated fragrance load.

Pairs well with: decorative stones, sea shells, beads and dried flowers to suspend in the wax.

Not suitable for: pillar or free standing candles, plastic containers, or moulds that need the wax to be removed; gel wax stays soft and needs a container.

How to Use

1. Cut the gel wax into small pieces and melt it in a pot over direct heat, stirring gently.
2. Bring it up to about 110°C so it turns fully liquid and the bubbles clear.
3. Fix a wick with a metal sustainer to the base of a warmed glass jar and arrange your decorations.
4. Add colour and up to 3% fragrance oil, then pour the gel slowly down the side of the jar.
5. Leave the candle to set at room temperature before trimming the wick.

Before You Buy
