Everything you need to bring a thin clock face to life, except the battery. This kit has a quartz clock movement with a 12mm shaft, gold loop hands (an open ring on the hour hand and a diamond cut out near the minute hand tip, plus a second hand), 12 gold bar hour markers and a metal hanger hook. The shorter 12mm shaft suits thinner boards, since the shaft must pass through the face and still leave thread for the nut.

Compatibility

Works with: clock faces, MDF boards and resin dials with a drilled or cast centre hole, where the board is thinner than the 12mm shaft.

Pairs well with: mdf clock bases, resin clock moulds and a strong craft glue to fix the markers.

Not suitable for: boards so thick that the shaft cannot pass through and leave thread for the nut. The CMSC12 kit with an 18mm shaft is the better pick for thicker boards and resin faces.

How to Use

1. Measure your board thickness and check that the 12mm shaft will pass through it with a few threads to spare.
2. Drill or cast a centre hole just wide enough for the shaft.
3. Slide the round end of the metal hanger onto the shaft at the back of the board, with the hook pointing up towards 12.
4. Push the shaft through from the back, then fit the washer and nut on the front and tighten gently by hand.
5. Press on the hour hand, then the minute hand, then the second hand, with all three pointing at 12.
6. Fix the 12 bar markers around the face, insert one AA battery and set the time.
