Before You Buy

• Ink is not included, so you need a bottle of calligraphy ink to use the pen.
• New nibs carry a factory coating; wipe them before first use so ink flows.
• Not the same as the straight holder sets, which hold the nib in line with the pen; the flange on this holder sets the nib at an angle for slanted scripts.
• The pack prints the maker name Keep Smiling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What comes in this oblique pen set?
A black oblique holder with a flange and five steel nibs from 3mm to 0.75mm, 6 pieces. Ink is sold separately.

How is it different from a straight holder set?
This set has 1 oblique holder and 5 nibs, 6 pieces, with the nib angled to one side for slanted scripts. The straight holder sets, such as the 8 piece wooden set, hold the nib in line and suit upright broad edge lettering.

Which ink works in a dip pen?
Bottled calligraphy or drawing ink, such as the 40ml calligraphy inks. Fountain pen cartridges do not fit a dip pen.

Metal nib dip pen or a glass dip pen?
A metal nib gives thick and thin strokes with pressure, which suits formal calligraphy. The glass dip pen writes an even line, holds more ink per dip and rinses clean in water. Pick nibs for scripts, glass for notes and gifting.
