Press it into a silicone mould and it picks up fine relief, spread it through a stencil and it leaves a crisp raised motif, and it dries hard and white ready for paint. This tub is 500g.

Compatibility

Not suitable for: flexible surfaces, which crack the dried paste, and for anything load bearing, since plaster is brittle.

How to Use

1. Press the paste firmly into a silicone mould, working it into the detail before you fill the rest.
2. Level the back off flush with a palette knife or a card.
3. Leave it to dry naturally. Do not force it with heat, which crazes the surface.
4. Flex the mould back and lift the cast out once it is hard right through.
5. Sand any rough edge lightly, then glue it in place and paint.

Before You Buy

• Plaster is brittle. A thin cast snaps if you bend it, so glue it flat to a surface rather than leaving it proud.
• Do not dry it with a heat gun. It crazes and the surface goes chalky.
• Wash moulds and tools before the paste sets. Once hard it does not come off cleanly.
• Keep the tub sealed. Plaster paste stiffens quickly once air reaches it.
• The same paste comes in a 150g tub if this size is not the one you need.

How is this different from texture paste?
Sculpture paste is plaster based and firmer, so it casts cleanly in a mould and holds deeper relief. Texture paste is softer and better for spreading and impasto on a surface.

Can I cast it in silicone moulds?
Yes, that is its main use. Press it in firmly so it reaches the detail, level the back and let it dry hard before you flex the mould.

Does it need sealing before painting?
Not usually. It dries hard and white and takes acrylic straight on. A light sand first gives a cleaner finish on a rough edge.
