Seal and finish your painted pieces with a flat, no shine clear coat. A clear coat is a colourless top layer: you spray it over dry paint to set the final sheen and add a protective layer. This JAGS Ultra Acrylic Clear Matte comes in a 400 ml aerosol can, enough for bigger pieces or several items.

Compatibility

Works with: canvas, paper, metal, wood and walls, the surfaces shown on the maker's label, and over dry colours from the Ultra Acrylic range.

Pairs well with: any Ultra Acrylic colour shade underneath.

Over other paints: the maker advises a test on a hidden area first to check for any reaction, so test before coating brush paints or other brands.

Not suitable for: thermocol, styrofoam and other polystyrene foam, because the solvents in the paint can melt foam.

How to Use

1. Let the paint underneath dry fully first. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of oil, dust and wax, and test on a hidden spot.
2. Shake the can hard for about 5 minutes, until you hear the mixing ball rattle freely.
3. Hold the can 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) from the surface, press the nozzle fully and keep the can moving parallel to the surface.
4. Spray light, even coats about 5 minutes apart. Thin coats stay clear; a heavy coat can run.
5. After use, turn the can upside down and spray for a few seconds to clear the nozzle.

• This is a colourless top coat, not a paint colour. It adds no colour of its own.
• Screen colours vary, so the sheen may look different on your device.
• The can is pressurised and extremely flammable. Spray in a well ventilated space, away from flames and sparks, and keep it away from children.
• Wait 48 hours before sanding or polishing a painted piece, as the maker advises.

What is the difference between Clear Matte and Clear Glossy?

Can I spray this over acrylic paint on canvas?
